Win XP Emulator for 5800: iXP – Browse 5800 XP Style

Our good ol’ friends at MMMOOO have an emulator for fans of XP, offering the unique XP like feel to our Nokia 5800s.

As you may all know, Win XP is no OS for a portable device and not for phones whatsoever, where Microsoft has its very own Windows Mobile now rechristened  as Windows Phone. Since XP was not designed for a phone in the first place, porting the interface to one of the best selling phones is by no means an easy task. Lets see how our able friends at MMMOOO have to offer with their emulator- iXP for symbian fifth edition devices.

As can be seen from the screenshots above, the developers have done an excellent job of mimicking the looks and feel of XP on the high resolution screens of our 5800s. But, since XP was never designed for a smartphone, the navigation features are somewhat cumbersome for regular phone operations, though the speed of response is amazing.

The emulator is pretty basic and should not be compared with the mighty MyPhone for the following reasons: MyPhone mimics iPhone OS interface, which was designed exclusively for smartphones and MyPhone has evolved into a powerful emulator that it is today and iXP is just in its stages of infancy.

Verdict

iXP is a well-designed emulator for Nokia 5800 & N97, doing an excellent job of mimicking the popular PC OS on our phones. However, the emulator has its share of small pitfalls, not because of its design but because of the design of XP which was not designed for smartphones in the first place. Further this emulator may not be to everyone’s taste (esp Mac users). But this shouldn’t stop XP lovers from installing this great app on their 5800s though.

  1. Microsoft isn’t any stranger to having companions galore within the telephone business, but its lineup of manufacturers for the upcoming, surprisingly promising Windows Telephone 7 launch isn’t any less impressive. After plenty of rumoring, Microsoft has confirmed that Dell and HTC can be making Windows Cellphone 7 telephones, along with ASUS, LG, and Samsung who had already been confirmed. All of these firms ought to have their stamp on hardware by the end of the 12 months, with the launch of the OS nonetheless vaguely slated for the “holidays” Now we have no doubt that each one 5 producers can build some compelling, horny hardware, but we’re notably enthused to see Dell really getting into the game after the impressive Streak and that drool worthy leak a little while back. learn extra at http://www.wp7forum.com followers group.
