SPB Weather- Brings the Met Department to 5800s
It’s been a while since we heard from SPB Software, who are like one of the most popular app developers for Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms. Just when we thought their Symbian division had gone dormant, they released their new app- SPB Weather.
Weather forecasts, why would you need weather forecasts on your mobile phone? If you are asking the above question, let me tell you that this info comes in very handy especially if you happen to be someone who travels a lot on work. You don’t want to be wearing the wrong gear as you step out of your home, only to realise how horribly inappropriate your choice was on reaching the destination. Ok, we need weather forecast, but how good is SPB Weather at sourcing this info right into our 5800s? Let’s find out.

That pretty much covers every feature on the SPB Weather app. The only thing left out is the customisation options where one can select the units, update frequencies, add/remove cities etc. We like the way they have integrated the 3D globe with relevant info pinned on to it and its something like layers of Google maps.

Verdict
The latest app by SPB, SPB Weather packs a good UI, easy-to-use application but we don’t see anything that we didn’t see in Accuweather. The app does have a better UI and customisation options but nothing extravagant, that would substantiate the USD 14.95 price tag, the app is carrying. If you really like the interface and don’t mind shelling 15 bucks for a weather app, go ahead for it but we are staying back with our free Accuweather app for the time being.
