Nokia Fever

Sudoku, the classic paper based game has been adapted on to our 5800s since long and guess what, it just got better, wait way better! Gameloft have released the updated version of best selling electronic Sudoku game- Platinum Sudoku to v2.

Sudoku as you may know consists of 9×9 grid made up of nine 3×3 matrices. The objective of the game is to fill in the grid such that each matrix has numerals 1-9, such that no numeral is repeated either within the matrix and along that respective row and column. Doesn’t that make up for an exciting puzzle? No wonder the puzzle has a huge fan following and is one of the most popular electronic games in the web today. We have been hunting for that perfect Sudoku client for our 5800s and had adjudged Sensible Sudoku as the winner when it was first launched a couple of quarters ago. Will Platinum Sudoku 2 dislodge Sensible Sudoku from the coveted title? Read further to find out.

To be frank,  we are totally bowled over by the gaming options we see in this version of Sudoku by Gameloft. Not only does the game bring Sudoku to our 5800s, it sure makes it engaging and interactive as well. This is probably the first Sudoku client that we have seen where there is a “story mode” (Yeah a story mode! Reminds us of those arcade games of our hand-held gaming consoles).

The game has loads of gaming options and we are highlighting only a couple of them here: Interaction with coaches is simply amazing. With this feature, Gameloft have assured that gamers are not bored with the game at any point while gaming on this client. Exhaustive analysis of gamer’s progress after each game is something the Sudoku fanatics will adore among other things the game has to offer. Further the weekly contest and special modes make sure that Sudoku gamers across all cadres are engaged in the game.

Verdict

Platinum Sudoku2 is one of the best Sudoku clients we have seen on our 5800s. While the client doesn’t score high when it comes to graphics and finger touch gameplay optimizations, the gamut of gaming options propel it miles ahead of competing Sudoku clients. Sensible Sudoku does have the best graphics and touch screen optimization but the Ludimate’s Sudoku client fades in to oblivion when it comes to the gaming options that Platinum Sudoku 2 provides. What Gameloft has done with Platinum Sudoku is that they have breaked the monotonous nature of the game and by engaging the gamer in Sudoku, have won the crown of the “Best Sudoku Client for 5800“.
