Nokia Photo Browser Released For Nokia 5800

Nokia Beta Labs has just introduced a new image browsing application for Nokia 5800, called Nokia Photo Browser. The user interface is easy-to-use with pleasing visual effects and some cool extra features includes Face Browsing and Magnifying Glass.

“Photo browsing should be fun!” is what the development team says, while also adding that the new Nokia Photo Browser has been designed to offer users new ways of viewing their photos, including “Face browsing,” a feature that makes use of the face detection technology to be able to find peoples’ faces from pictures.

Face recognition technology works perfect with it. For instance, if you have a photograph with several faces in it, you can zoom in on one face, and then swipe your finger on your touchscreen across the photo to scroll to the next face, and the next, and so on. Definitely really sweet stuff here.

In the single image view you can:

* Long press to start the magnifier
* Double-tap will start the regular zoom
* Double-tap on a face will start the face browsing
* In the face browsing mode, a stroke will travel between faces

One thing that the development team says about its new application is that it is still in the works and, as such, it comes with limitations. Yet, future versions are to come with improvements and new features. While the current release only works with Symbian S60 5th Edition, a version for the 3rd Edition will also become available in the near future.
