Nokia Communities – Part 1 (for Twitter)
This app is by Nokia for its S60v5 phones. Right now, it supports only Twitter and facebook. This post is about this app as a Twitter client. Check for the 2nd part regarding facebook.
Starting off, when you sign in using your twitter username and password, you get your timeline as the default and the first screen. It refreshes the timeline automatically like all the other twitter clients, so you don’t have to worry about missing any of the tweets of any of the people you follow.
You can see a button with a camera on the top right corner. That can be used to take a picture and tweet it or use a pic on your phone and tweet it. I’m not sure about this because that feature is not yet available. It says “coming soon…” when you tap on that. I’m waiting to see what it actually does.
You have a text box at the top, tapping which opens up another window where you can update your status with 140 or less characters, as usual. This app also gives you options such as shortening those URLs in your update or updating with your location.
Very simple interface with all the necessary features is the secret of this app. Anyway, moving on with the details, next comes the mentions page of twitter, and this app’s got that as well. You can switch onto that page to see all your mentions, simple.
You get the “What’s happening?” textbox on this page as well, so you can update your status from here as well. Favourites page shows all the tweets which you have marked as your favourites. Simple again.
Next comes messages, this page, as you can probably guess, lists all the messages you’ve got on twitter.
You can open the links in those messages by just tapping on them and they open up in your default browser. You have the option to compose messages as well right from your inbox.
There is a button in the app which lets you search words on twitter. But this doesn’t gets done in the app. It opens up your default browser again with the search page of twitter.
This is pretty much it about Nokia Communities for Twitter. In the 2nd part, expect Nokia Communities for FaceBook. Till then, have a nice time.
