Nokia 5800 Hands Free Features
The Nokia 5800 has been designed for drivers, as well as music lovers in mind. Not only does it feature assisted-gps and a Nokia Maps application which can aid with driving and planning routes, there are also a number of hands free features to the phone.
To begin with, the phone, even without any addons, comes with speakerphone facility. What this means that at the press of a button, the speaker becomes louder and the microphone becomes a lot more sensitive, allowing you to speak on the phone without using your hands. It’s not ideal, as it also requires you to switch it on (so not completely “hands free”), and of course there’s privacy problems (you may not want other people in the car hearing what you are saying).
Luckily, the phone comes with a basic hands free system. This is a microphone and earpiece that comes with the phone, allowing you to make phone calls without touching the handset. Voice recognition means that even a “Ring Steve” or similar phrase will result in the phone calling the requested individual. This obviously needs to be set up beforehand, but can be great for making quick calls, particularly if you don’t want to hear everything around you.
Whilst a wired headset is good, a better connection would be through bluetooth, allowing you not to be tied to your phone.
Luckily the Nokia 5800 comes with this as well, allowing bluetooth connectivity to a multitude of headsets and devices. This is ideal as the headsets are light, non distracting and comfortable to wear.
Probably the most desirable option though is to integrate the Nokia 5800 phone to your car itself using a number of receivers and speakers (even sometimes using your car in built speaker system). This is not a small job, as hands free car kit installation is more aimed at business customers. Nevertheless, it could be well worth getting for business customers, particularly if they have a fleet of vehicles on the road.
Finally, linked to this, the Nokia 5800, with it’s in built GPS system, does allow for integration to most vehicle security systems, preventing your vehicle from getting stolen when out on the road.
