Nimbuzz for Nokia 5530 – My personal view!
Nimbuzz is a many-in-one social networking app for the Symbian and many other mobile phone platforms. It has support for all the major IMs, GTalk, Yahoo, MSN, Skype, you name it. The latest version of Nimbuzz even supports Twitter. Of course, this app works on Nokia 5530.
I’m using Nimbuzz on my Nokia 5530 XpressMusic for more than 6 months now and I’ve got absolutely no complaints. There are no network connectivity problems, problems with the chats, or calls or the tweets. Everything works just fine.
The connection to the server is quick and simple even on slow connections like EDGE. I’ve used it on many Nokia phones. I face no problems with this app on any phone but my own phone. The problem is it takes about a minute to connect to the server, on other phones, like a Nokia N73 of my friend, it’s just a matter of a few seconds. But once it’s connected and logged me in, it works as smooth as butter. You get all your contacts at one place sorted by default according to their status. The contacts from all services, like GTalk, Yahoo, Skype, etc., appear in a single list. Some feel it’s good and some don’t. But I personally prefer this rather than maintaining separate lists for separate services and switching between them each and every second. The chats with your friends open up on different tabs. So this mean you can easily maintain multiple chats.
You can have custom status messages or choose the standard status from the list provided.
The user can also get options like messaging, file sharing, online photo gallery and photo sharing with other users. This is very handy for people who maintain online galleries and are photo buffs.
As a twitter client, I can say that this is the best I’ve used on a Symbian phone. I’ve tried many apps but had to settle down with this. It gives you separate lists of your timeline, your mentions and direct messages. This feels very clean.
The timeline updates itself every minute so you don’t need to worry about missing those tweets. From within the timeline, you have options to open a link in a tweet, retweet, reply or open the twitter’s profile.
This is pretty much it. If you want a simple looking app with all the great features, consider Nimbuzz.
