Nokia Fever

Missing that rusty old calculator that used to deck up almost every study table back in the 80s? Looks like somebody was missing his old metallic calculator so much that he came up with this awesome calculator application mimicking the looks and feel of the metallic calculator of the bygone era (yeah two decades is a bygone era in the field of electronics).

MetalCalc2 is a flash based calculator application and a good substitute to the onboard symbian calculator. Not only does it have the retro look but also features some advanced calculator features not seen in the default Symbian calculator.

Doesn’t that metallic interface look good? We are so in love with this look and are so glad to have a calculator application that actually looks and feels like a real-world calculator. Looks is not the only strong point of this flash based application, which offers some value added features like 10 digit display, memory and memory recall (symbian calculator has this feature but its hidden in the options menu), rd. and rd.xx covering most of the basic calculator functions.

What we like?

1. Retro metallic look
2. Familiar calculator screen (Makes it a lot easier than the symbian calculator)
3. Some advanced calculator functions
4. Support for both landscape and portrait mode

What we don’t like?

1. Absence of a full fledged scientific calculator

Verdict

MetalCalc2 brings the retro calculator to our 5800s and we definitely think this is one of the coolest apps for 5800. However, it falls short of that perfect calculator application mainly because of its lack of support for scientific functions. If you don’t need a scientific calculator, then MetalCalc2 is definitely a must have on your 5800.
