In case you were wondering, NO, we didn’t forget to host our customary Tube5800 contests, we were, lets just say gearing up for THE CONTEST of Tube5800!

Mobile DVD is a no non-sense media player which excels at doing what its supposed to do, that is play avi files. The progress bar is on the tap and the volume bar is located towards the bottom of the screen, which become visible with a tap on the screen. Another tap and you are back to the full screen mode, as simple as that.

As you may know, the usual avi files are not optmised for viewing on our 5800s and may need conversion to match the 360×640px resolution of our 5800 screens. Mobi Systems seem to have a solution for this too with the converter that comes in the package. Unfortunately the converter doesn’t provide us an option to convert the videos to 360×640px resolution, so we may as well chuck the converter out! We did transfer unconverted videos of 624×352px resolution and we didn’t notice any fall-backs in the playback on our 5800s. So, there you go, we can now play all our media files on our 5800s without having to bother about converting them!
