Chat Applications/ Instant Messengers for Nokia 5800

There are a few chat clients available for Nokia Tube that we talked about in last some posts. However, Windows Live Messenger is having login issues now on Nokia5800 and there is not much info available on other similar chat apps.

There are just too much requests from you guys for the chatting/ voice calling applications. So today we collected info on all the instant messaging applications available for 5800 with their summarized features and download links. We picked up about eight great apps that supports almost all the IMs like Yahoo, MSN, GTalk, Skype, AIM, ICQ, SIP, Jabber, etc. and even Twitter & Facebook on your 5800.

Nokia 5800 Chat Applications-

1) Fring:

fringOK this one is most popular and they have just updated their program for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It supports Skype, MSN, GTalk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM.

2) Talkonaut:

Talkonaut is a free chat app that supports Jabber, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, AIM and Yahoo networks both for chatting and voice calling. Talkonaut allows to make free VoIP over GPRS/EDGE calls, as well as calls over 3G, or WIFI. Other features- Group chat, Presence and status, Chat history, Avatars, Traffic compression, File sharing and SIP support.

4) Slick Messenger:

Yet another free multi-protocol instant messaging client. Slick allows you to chat with your friends connected though various online messaging applications, like ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google and Jabber. It supports Nokia 5800 but currently its still in development, an alpha version is available for free for public testing. Poor user interface but works ok on Nokia 5800.

5) MSN Windows Live Messenger:

windows live msnA very popular messaging client with millions of users worldwide. Its available here on Tube5800 since long time but sadly, it turned out buggy for Nokia 5800 sometime back and Microsoft is too slow for fixing/updating it (as usual) for Symbian S60 V5 platform.

We are keeping an eye on it and will update you as soon as it gets fixed and works well on 5800. Still if you want to download it, here it is-

6) AVACS Live Chat:

7) Palringo:

They just released the new version for Nokia 5800 with added support for Facebook chat. In addition its also easy now to update your status across a number of services in one go and allowed insertion of location into your status so all of your friends can see when your location changes.

8 ) Yahoo Messenger

Guys at Dailymobile sent us a trick to use the built-in Instant Messenger on your Nokia 5800 to chat with yahoo users.

Just fill in your yahoo account (user, pass etc) the put in: imps.msg.yahoo.com as server/web address. Now, you can chat to Yahoo Messenger users )

  1. I wonder if Vopium gives the chat application or not , otherwise Nokia 5800 is the perfect phone for me.

  2. Hey just wondering if any one could suggest a good torrent downloader. Hopefully free but if reasonable and speedy with good storage I would consider a paid service.
